Live Broadcast as a Fundraising Multiplier: American Cancer Society Suits and Sneakers Gala
How live broadcast direction, in-room jumbotron feeds, and a remote donor strategy can extend a once-a-year gala beyond room capacity and increase its fundraising potential.
Four hours. One room. No second takes.
RevenueTHESIS founder Nick Gasmena served as live broadcast director for the American Cancer Society’s Northwest Arkansas Suits & Sneakers Gala in 2023 and was trusted to return in 2024. From cocktail hour and fundraising games through dinner, mission storytelling, the runway show, and charity auction, live camera feeds kept the ballroom connected while the captured footage preserved the evening for continued use.
The 2023 gala highlight film
A concise record of a four-hour program—designed for donor follow-up, sponsor visibility, future promotion, and mission storytelling.
A significant event, trusted twice
These figures describe the event and partnership; they do not claim the video production caused the fundraising totals.
One production system, multiple audiences
Live production is not simply recording a stage. It is a coordinated system for deciding what every audience sees, when they see it, and what remains usable after the room clears.
Extend the value beyond the ballroom
A once-per-year gala has a hard ceiling when participation ends at the walls of the venue. A broadcast-ready event can keep more people connected to its mission and create more value from the same night.
Reach supporters who cannot attend
Distance, travel, schedules, and room capacity no longer have to end participation.
Create a remote donor pathway
When the platform and rules support it, viewers can move directly from the program to giving or bidding.
Increase the life of recognition
Branded moments can serve the ballroom, a remote audience, donor follow-up, and next year’s promotion.
Turn one night into a campaign asset
The live program supplies recap footage, social cutdowns, stakeholder reporting, and future storytelling.
The documented Suits & Sneakers work included live direction, in-room jumbotron feeds, event coverage, and recap production. We are not claiming remote auction bidding was used at these galas. We are showing that the production foundation required for that expansion was already in place.
Directing the room in real time
For guests, the result should feel effortless. Behind the screens, it depends on continuous technical and editorial decisions.

Cocktail hour and fundraising games
Capturing arrivals, sponsor details, guest interaction, and the early fundraising activity that established the energy of the evening.
Dinner and program
Maintaining visual continuity through remarks, mission moments, and transitions without distracting from the room.
Runway direction
Anticipating entrances, movement, audience reactions, and the full runway presentation.
Charity auction
Keeping the auctioneer, featured items, bidders, and reactions visible as pace and energy changed.
Recap acquisition
Preserving atmosphere, branded details, fundraising activity, and emotional moments from the full event for the final highlight film.
Trust earned, then renewed
Live direction and event film
Directed the four-hour live production, supplied stage-screen feeds, and produced the recap. University of Arkansas athletics reported approximately $842,000 raised.
Invited back for the next gala
Returned for the fourth-annual event and adapted the production to a new run of show and new stories. 40/29 News reported approximately $800,000 raised.
Production in service of the mission
Suits & Sneakers is part of Coaches vs. Cancer, the collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The Northwest Arkansas gala brought together the Razorback basketball community, survivors, advocates, sponsors, and donors in support of cancer research, early detection, patient services, and advocacy.
We are grateful to the American Cancer Society, the gala organizers, the University of Arkansas basketball community, every participant and survivor who shared their story, the donors who acted on it, and every crew member who helped the evening carry its full weight.

Live event broadcast questions
What does a live event video production include?
A typical engagement can include pre-production planning, camera coverage, program audio, live switching and direction, feeds to in-room screens, streaming, recording, and post-event edits. The exact system depends on the venue, run of show, audience, and fundraising goals.
Can a gala broadcast support remote donations or auction bidding?
Yes, when the event platform and auction rules support remote participation. The broadcast, donation or bidding experience, program timing, and calls to action should be planned as one donor journey.
Why use live camera feeds on stage screens?
Image magnification lets guests throughout a large room clearly see speakers, runway participants, auction items, and emotional reactions. It makes the program more accessible without asking the audience to disengage from the live experience.
What can be created from the footage after the event?
Common deliverables include a highlight film, sponsor recap, donor thank-you content, speaker clips, social cutdowns, press assets, and promotional material for the next event.
